Pivot point calculator

Type the previous day’s high, low and close. Pick a method to see the pivot and its support and resistance levels.

…

How to use it

Use the high, low and close of the period before the one you are looking at: yesterday for today, last week for this week, last month for this month. Prices from your broker’s chart work; this site does not show prices.

The formulas

With H, L and C for the previous high, low and close, and range = H − L:

MethodPivotFirst levelsSecond and third levels
ClassicP = (H + L + C) ÷ 3R1 = 2P − L, S1 = 2P − HR2 = P + range, S2 = P − range; R3 = H + 2(P − L), S3 = L − 2(H − P)
FibonacciP = (H + L + C) ÷ 3P ± 0.382 × rangeP ± 0.618 × range; P ± range
Camarillauses CC ± range × 1.1 ÷ 12C ± range × 1.1 ÷ 6; ÷ 4; ÷ 2 (R4/S4)
WoodieP = (H + L + 2C) ÷ 4R1 = 2P − L, S1 = 2P − Has Classic, with Woodie’s P

Worked example

Stock ABC’s previous day had a high of ₹110, a low of ₹100 and a close of ₹105. Classic pivot P = (110 + 100 + 105) ÷ 3 = ₹105. R1 = 2 × 105 − 100 = ₹110 and S1 = 2 × 105 − 110 = ₹100. R2 = 105 + 10 = ₹115 and S2 = ₹95. R3 = 110 + 2 × (105 − 100) = ₹120 and S3 = 100 − 2 × (110 − 105) = ₹90.

What pivots are and are not

Pivot levels are arithmetic on yesterday’s prices. Many traders watch them, which is why prices sometimes pause near them, but nothing makes the price respect a level. Different methods give different levels for the same day, which is a reminder that they are reference points, not forecasts. Read more in pivot points explained.

Questions people ask

Which pivot method is best?
None is best. Classic is the most widely used, Camarilla gives tighter levels close to the close, and Woodie gives more weight to the close. They are different formulas, not better or worse predictions.
Can I use pivots for weekly or monthly levels?
Yes. Use the high, low and close of the previous week or month instead of the previous day.
Should I use the close or the last traded price?
Use the official closing price shown on the exchange website or on your broker’s daily chart. It can differ from the last traded price.
